Though rumours that they are heading for a divorce are growing louder, Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya and his wife, Serbian dancer-actor Nataša Stanković, have yet to address the matter publicly or clear the air around the speculations. Adding fuel to the fire, Stanković reportedly dropped “Pandya” surname from her Instagram handle and also removed a few pictures of the cricketer from the account recently.
Now, her response to reporters’ questions regarding the speculations has raised more eyebrows, leading many to draw conclusions on the matter. Besides sharing a few cryptic stories on her Instagram, Stanković had until now been maintaining a low profile.
However, she was recently spotted at a restaurant in Bandra, Mumbai, with actor Disha Patani’s rumoured boyfriend Aleksandar Alex Ilic. When paparazzi asked if she would like to respond to the divorce rumours, the question shocked her momentarily, as evidenced by her momentary change in demeanour. The dancer-actor, however, quickly brought a smile back to her face and said, “Thank you very much,” to the photographers before walking towards the car. Despite reporters requesting her to say something, she just responded, “Thank you, guys,” before leaving the spot.
Currently the vice-captain of the Indian ODI cricket team, Hardik Pandya is also the captain of the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL). While Stanković’s absence at Pandya and Mumbai Indians’ matches during the recently-concluded edition of the IPL had fuelled the speculations, it was her reported removal of their wedding pictures from her Instagram handle that further ignited suspicions.
Who is Nataša Stanković?
Born in Požarevac, Republic of Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia, Stanković moved to India in 2012 to pursue a career in the Indian entertainment industry. After initially appearing in a few commercials, including for leading brands such as Johnson’s Baby, she made her film debut in Prakash Jha’s Satyagraha, appearing only in a song. Though she received small roles in films such as Dishkiyaoon, Action Jackson, 7 Hours to Go, and Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero, her film acting career never took off completely. However, Stanković found fame through dance numbers and appeared in many Bollywood songs before entering Bigg Boss 8 as a contestant. She also took part in the dance reality show Nach Baliye 9 and ended up as the 3rd runner-up along with another contestant.
Stanković and Pandya got engaged on January 1, 2020, and tied the knot during the COVID-induced lockdown. The couple welcomed a baby boy, Agastya, on July 30 of the same year. The celebrity couple renewed their wedding vows in a Christian ceremony in Udaipur on February 14, coinciding with Valentine’s Day.
