They performed garba, did bhangra, jumped in the air, danced to “Khalibali”, sang “Dama Dum Mast Kalankar “and brought the house down with their energetic moves as they shook a leg to “Aaja Soniye. Ranveer Singh and cricketer Hardik Pandya left no stone unturned to entertain the guest at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s haldi ceremony while enjoying themselves without inhibitions. In numerous videos which surfaced from the event, smeared in haldi, Ranveer and Hardik are seen dancing their hearts out as they jammed alongside singer and former Indian Idol contestant, Rahul Vaidya, who performed live at the haldi ceremony.
Rahul, who also shared glimpses of the two having a blast during his performance, on his social media handle, recently spoke about their infectious energy. During a recent interview with Etimes, Rahul said that performing at a private event for Anant-Radhika’s haldi and baithi ceremonies, was “extra special” for him as he got a chance to sing and dance alongside Ranveer and Hardik.
The 36-year-old, who is married to TV actor Disha Parmar, says Ranveer and Hardik’s energy levels were off the charts and therefore, it is difficult for him to decide “who was better.” He further added that their dynamic presence on stage was contagious and elevated his entire performance, adding that they duo created the “vibe” on stage. The singer revealed that owing to their heightened energy, Ranveer and Hardik were “all over the place,” with their “energies firing” which encouraged him to perform better.
Earlier, a video shared by Rahul from the ceremony earlier, featured Ranveer be seen joining Rahul and singing the Sindhi anthem, “Damadam Mast Kalandar.” Rahul captioned the post, “When Ranveer BABA sang the Sindhi anthem & set the mood. Akash Ambani bhai is the sweetest host and human being, aapne meri shaadi ke baad haldi lagai. Sharing the stage with the living legend Udit ji was such an honour.”
Another video shared on the singer’s Instagram handle shows Ranveer singing and dancing to “Kali Bali Hogaya Hai Dil” and “My Name is Lakhan”. Rahul captioned the video, “BABA = FIRE.” Several videos of from the star-studded event also showed Hardik dancing to “Chogada” with Veer Pahariya and Ananya Pandey matching steps.
Another viral video shows Ranveer onstage with cricketer Hardik, grooving to Latin pop star Luis Fonsi’s live performance of “Despacito”. They were also joined by Arjun Kapoor and Ananya onstage.
Speaking about his experience of performing at the Ambani wedding and being part of the festivities, Rahul says what truly struck him about the Ambanis is was incredible “simplicity” amidst unimaginable wealth. The “Do Char Din” singer stressed that despite it bein the richest family in the subcontinent, they cling to their culture with unwavering devotion, even as their down-to-earth approach to everyday life, continued to impress him. He said Mukesh Ambani, who personally “greets him,” in particular, has left an unforgettable impression owing to his simplicity.
Rahul who hasn’t done playback singing in a while, revealed that those opportunities haven’t come his way, which explains his limited involvement in that sphere. He further that that it seems music directors tend to stick with familiar faces, and want to work with “run-of-the-mill” playback singers, playing it safe with conventional choices as experimentation isn’t their strong suit.
He further added that the industry has also evolved, making it challenging to break in. Close collaboration with composers is essential now, something difficult to manage with your packed schedule, stating that he has been “very very busy.” Between creating his own music, TV shows, and other commitments, he has been spread thin and he simply has no time to actively pursue music directors or “call them up” asking for work.
