Akshay Kumar is known for his punctuality and hard work, but he also doesn’t miss an opportunity to have fun on set, often pulling pranks on his co-stars. Recently, actor Manoj Pahwa, who worked with Khiladi Kumar on the film Singh is Kinng, shared a memory of a prank that almost put his marriage in jeopardy.
During an interaction with Hindi Rush, Manoj recalled that one evening, after wrapping up the day’s shoot in Australia, Akshay snatched his phone when Manoj’s wife, Seema Pahwa, called. Pretending to be Manoj, Akshay spoke to Seema in an attempt to fool her. While Seema quickly realized that the person on the other end wasn’t her husband, Akshay continued the prank, even involving their co-star Neha Dhupia to make the act more convincing. Neha played along, pretending to be an unknown woman, but Seema wasn’t fooled.
Manoj shared, “He pretended to be me and spoke to Seema. He set up the whole act.” Seema added, “He gave the phone to Neha Dhupia, who pretended to be an unknown woman and said, ‘He is in the bathroom.’ I was like, ‘You can’t fool me.’” Manoj continued, “This could have created doubt—Seema might have thought, ‘A girl is on the phone, what is happening there?’ But I told Akshay this prank wouldn’t work on us because we’ve been married for a long time.”
Seema Pahwa, who also worked with Akshay in the film Raksha Bandhan, recalled another incident that showcased his playful nature. She recounted how the actor ate her entire lunch and then asked her to eat the food available on set. She said, “On the set of the film, he announced that we all would have lunch together. I arrived at the lunch area with my own lunch box—I always take a home-cooked meal with me everywhere. On set, they were serving jalebi-fafda, which I can’t eat. As soon as my lunch box came in, Akshay said, ‘Bring this box to me,’ and he ate my entire lunch. He is very mischievous.”
