Actor Rajesh Puri is known for his roles in iconic television serials like Hum Log, Saath Nibaana Saathiya, and starring in films like Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro. An alumni of the National School of Drama, Rajesh was recently in the news for a shocking incident of alleged kidnapping.
The actor was invited to Delhi to be part of an event, and he was flown down to the Capital. In an interview to Times of India, Puri revealed that the event organisers also paid him an advance amount of Rs 35,000 and booked the return flights too. However, the actor was taken on a different route from the Delhi airport. As they were proceeding towards Meerut, he was asked to shift to a new car, which had no number plate. Realising that something sinister was afoot, Puri revealed that he had to boast about his connections in the capital city to destabilise his alleged kidnappers.
When asked if he never felt something was wrong with this event before landing in Delhi, Rajesh Puri shared that it seemed legitimate considering he was asked to share a small video and pictures of himself for the banner. He further added that the organisers not sharing the official invite was a matter of concern, but he was already engaged with the Ganapati Chaturthi celebrations. Unravelling the mysterious kidnap ploy, Puri revealed that the men accompanying him for the ‘event’ spoke to him openly when they were having their dinner in a dhaba. The actor shared a shocking revelation that the people actually confided in him that it was a kidnap for Rs 1-2 crores as ransom, but they were letting him go scot free because it was a hit-job that was based on a lie.
Rajesh Puri shared that he was dropped off a few hours later, and his brother-in-law picked him up from the drop point. The actor expressed no interest in taking legal recourse due to the fear of rubbing the kidnappers the wrong way.
