Actor Akshay Kumar has had a series of flops off-late, with films like Mission Raniganj, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Sarfira failing to strike gold at the box office. While he is going through a rough patch, his spirit to entertain doesn’t seem to fade. Akshay, who is gearing up to once again showcase his comedy chops in Khel Khel Mein which releases on August 15, is also celebrated as an action star in Bollywood. During a recent interview, Akshay revealed how the cartoon Tom and Jerry has given him major action references.
During an interview with Pinkvilla, when his Khel Khel Mein co-star Fardeen Khan mentioned how Tom and Jerry has been one of his all-time favorite comedies, Akshay Kumar corrected the Heeramandi actor and said that more than comedy, the content in the cartoon qualifies as violence. Akshay also revealed that he took many action scene references from Tom and Jerry.
“Tom and Jerry is not comedy, it’s violence. Today I will tell you one secret. So many action scenes I have done, a lot of times I have taken it from Tom and Jerry. That whole helicopter scene, I took it from Tom and Jerry. Another idea I took was from National Geographic, but with Tom and Jerry, it is unbelievable to see the kind of action they have,” Akshay said.
