Actor Ameesha Patel, who was a part of the blockbuster film Gadar 2, has claimed that she and the film’s lead star, Sunny Deol, were “semi ghost directors” on the film. Gadar 2 was directed by Anil Sharma, whom she accused of having a ‘hidden agenda’. In a recent interview, Ameesha said, “A lot of corrections were made in Gadar 2 by Sunny Deol and me to make it what it was.” She also said that the two actors “did a lot of editing and reshooting,” and had a lot of “arguments with our director to make Gadar 2 the film that was ultimately seen on the big screen.”
In a chat with Bollywood Hungama, Ameesha said, “There were a lot of corrections made in Gadar 2 by Sunny and me to make it what it was because it was being steered in a direction that we were unhappy with. We did a lot of reshoots for it and a lot of editing on our part.” She added that there was a lot of “creative discomfort that Sunny and I both had, and the journey was not an easy one. We both did a lot of editing, reshooting.”
Ameesha then claimed, “Sunny and me were almost like semi ghost directors on that.” She then said that she and Sunny had a lot of creative input in the scenes, songs and even the choreography. She added, “There was another hidden agenda that was with Mr Anil Sharma. He was deviating from making Gadar.”
The Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai actor then credited her business partner Kunal Goomer for stepping in, and said that the film “was actually going very wrong,” but he brought it on the right track. She said that Gadar 2 “was actually going to be ‘gutter’” had Kunal not stepped in to save the film with his artistic inputs. “Kunal had to alert Sunny Deol that these things have gone wrong, so when you go for your action schedule, please correct certain things,” she said.
When asked about Gadar 3, Ameesha said that she is yet to find out if she is a part of the film, but added that she has certain conditions. She mentioned that she will only be a part of the film if her character Sakeena and Sunny’s character Tara are given enough screen time together, as she believes that they are the essence of the franchise. She also added that even though the story of Gadar 2 ended on a note where their on-screen son might get married, she would never play a mother-in-law on screen.
