Actor Vijay Varma reflected on his experience of working with the legendary Amitabh Bachchan on the acclaimed film Pink. Vijay played a supporting role in the legal thriller, which also emerged as a major hit. Asked on a podcast what makes Bachchan a cut above the rest, Vijay spoke about the legendary star’s generosity on set, and the dedication with which he greets people. He said that Bachchan doesn’t ‘address the room’, but instead, takes an hour going from person to person and interacting with them individually.

Appearing on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, he said, “He has created a system for himself where he’s able to be his best professional self and his best personal self. His on-set behaviour is impeccable. His work ethics make you feel like he’s trying to do his best; and he will put in every effort to do his best. He’s extremely supportive, extremely collaborative. He stays on set, regardless of whether it’s his shot or not. He pulls up a chair and watches others work.”

Vijay said that the iconic star enjoys being involved in the process of filmmaking. “His off-set behaviour, how to interact with others, how he makes everybody feel seen on the set… He takes his time, but he says hello to everybody. He takes an hour to greet everybody. He doesn’t address the room; he doesn’t wave at everyone as a group. He makes sure he gives time to each individual on set. It’s very beautiful, it’s very special.”

Vijay also briefly spoke about Shah Rukh Khan, whose company produced the film Darlings, in which he starred with Alia Bhatt. “He has an infectious love for everybody, and everybody has the same love for him. It’s a mutual, infectious love. There’s a lot of dignity, there’s a lot of respect. He called me up to praise my performance in Darlings, which was special.”
