A day after Anurag Kashyap stated that he fired Amruta Subhash from one of his films after hearing her list of demands, the filmmaker took to his Instagram stories to clarify the same. After the actor-filmmaker made the revelation of the actor demanding a single door van among many other things, blaming agencies for the whopping film budgets, many trolled the actress for the same. “A lot of people are shi****g on my dear friend Amruta after my interview,” wrote Anurag Kashyap.
He further wrote, “This post is to inform that I took her example because I could with asking her. Such is the love and trust between us. The film in question was Choked and she did that film beautifully. Culprit here was the agency, who made demands on her behalf and once I called Amruta, she didn’t know what they were asking and immediately corrected it and today she has even left the said agency.”
Amruta also reacted to Anurag’s story. She shared a screenshot of his story on her Instagram feed and wrote, “Thank you Anurag Kashyap. This gesture has touched me deeply. I chose my friends very wisely. I am lucky to have you as my friend.”
The controversy started after Anurag Kashyap spoke about the budgets of big films that eventually tank at the box office in an interview with Bollywood Bubble.
Recalling an incident, Anurag told Bollywood Bubble, “I was doing a film with an actor I have worked with three times before and I know how simple she is, Amruta Subhash. Suddenly we were doing something and there was a list of demands that came from the manager. I said, “Have you lost it?’ What is this?’ The list of demands included a single door van, this, that… I called up the manager and said, ‘I am replacing her.’”
He added, “Amruta asked me what happened, what did she do. She didn’t know what her own agent has asked. Then she yelled at her agent. Many times this has happened. I directly drop the actors if they demand.”
Anurag eventually blamed the agencies for the rising cost. He said the agencies, who represent make-up artist, hair department and entourage, charge them as well.
“People need to call out agencies too. And I don’t take any bullshit from these agencies. The industry’s health is bad because of these people. It is time we fix this,” said Kashyap in the same interview.
The actor-filmmaker, last seen in Maharaja, is all set to feature in Bad Cop, also starring Gulshan Devaiah in the lead role.
Amruta Subhash, who is known for her roles in projects like Lust Stories 2 and Gully Boy, among others, has collaborated with Kashyap on projects like Choked, Ghost Stories, and Raman Raghav 2.0.
