Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora’s step-father Anil Mehta died by alleged suicide on Wednesday. Soon after the news broke, several celebrities visited Malaika’s parents’ residence. A couple of hours later, videos of Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Kajol, and Arhaan Khan leaving the house after paying their last respects surfaced online.
While one of the videos showed Kajol and Saif Ali Khan leaving together, another video from a little later showed Kareena Kapoor, Malaika Arora, Amrita Arora, and Karisma Kapoor leaving together. While Amrita and Malaika left in one car, the Kapoor sisters left in another. They were safely escorted by Arjun Kapoor, who was present at the residence all day. Arjun and Malaika dated for several years before reportedly breaking up some months ago.
Malaika’s ex-husband Arbaaz Khan was seemingly the first one to arrive at the residence when news broke. Later, photos and videos of Salim Khan, Sohail Khan, Salma Khan, and Helen visiting Malaika’s father’s house were also shared online.
Hours after the incident, Malaika shared a note on her Instagram handle. It read: “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock by this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support, and respect.”
Anil Mehta was 62 at the time of his passing. Malaika’s mother, Joyce Polycarp, reportedly shared the details about the incident to the police. Anil and Joyce were divorced, but had reunited and were living together.
