Asha Negi and Rithvik Dhanjani were one of the most loved on-screen couples when they appeared together in Pavitra Rishta. But after dating each other for almost six years, they called it quits in 2020. In a recent interview, Asha opened up about the grief of getting out of a long-term relationship and how their fans continue to hate them for breaking up with each other.
In a chat with Hauterrfly, Asha said that actors who work together on the same television often end up dating each other. “People are loving your chemistry so it just happens. That’s why, I think, in television people get coupled up pretty fast,” she said. When asked about how se got over her break-up with Rithvik since it was a long-term relationship, Asha said that it is difficult to handle everything since families are involved.
“There is a lot of grief, of course. And then, you have to handle everything because families are involved and if you are an actor, then there are so many people, fan clubs… I still get so many gaalis and so does he,” she shared. Asha and Rithvik were very vocal with their relationship so when they parted ways, it came as a shock for their fans.
Asha said that she has stayed single for a while now but added that she will be vocal when she enters her next relationship. “Before this, I was always in a relationship, ever since Class 11-12. I initially thought that I am not one of those who can be single, I will end up finding somebody. I have always dated somebody and I am not the person who can be alone. But it is so liberating. Initially, of course, it was difficult but your growth becomes 2x when you are single because you are focused on yourself,” she shared.
