Ajay Devgn and Tabu-starrer Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha has failed to show the ‘Dum’ at the box office. After a disastrous opening of Rs 1.85 crore, which was even lower than Akshay Kumar’s recent debacle Sarfira, the film showed a slight growth on Saturday. According to early estimates by Sacnilk, it minted Rs 2.15 crore on Saturday, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 4 crore.
However, this slight growth isn’t sufficient to help the Ajay Devgn-starrer maintain healthy box office numbers. Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha has even fallen behind Ajay’s last film Maidaan, which was a massive box office failure, collecting only Rs 71 crore worldwide against a reported budget of Rs 235 crore. While Maidaan had collected Rs 7.25 crore within the first two days of its release (excluding the paid previews), Ajay’s latest outing has struggled to match this number. Ajay has tasted success only with Shaitaan the year. That film minted Rs 176.05 crore in India. Comparing it to Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, Shaitaan had minted Rs 33.5 crore within just two days of its release.
Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha released alongside Janhvi Kapoor and Gulshan Devaiah’s Ulajh. The latter has performed even worse than the Ajay Devgn-starrer, minting Rs 2.85 crore within two days of its release. Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha is facing stiff competition from the Hollywood film Deadpool and Wolverine, which shows no signs of stopping even in its second week. The Hollywood film collected Rs 7.25 crore on its second Saturday and has minted Rs 101 crore in India so far.
The Ajay Devgn-starrer had an overall 10.93 per cent Hindi occupancy on Saturday, with maximum footfall seen in night shows. The film is directed by Neeraj Pandey and also stars Shantanu Maheshwari, Jimmy Shergill and Saiee Manjrekar in pivotal roles.
