Bad Newz box office collection day 6: It’s good news for the team, as the film has maintained its pace in the weekdays after the big Monday fall and netted in the range of Rs 3 cr for three consecutive days, helping the Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri and Amy Virk starrer trend respectfully. Bad Newz on Wednesday minted Rs 3.25 cr, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
Bad Newz, on Monday, saw a drop of almost 70 percent, which was an alarming fall after a good weekend of nearly Rs 30 cr. The film since then has managed to hold a decent pace at the box office, netting Rs 40.2 cr in six days. It seems like The film will close its week one figure above Rs 42 cr.
Bad Newz performed despite coming into a weekend where Prabhas-Deepika Padukone starrer Kalki 2898 AD was still maintaining its strong hold at the box office. It was the only holdover film which slightly dented the film’s collections, as the other Hindi release, Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira, bombed on its opening day itself.
The difference between numbers of Sarfira, a film led by a bigger star, and Bad Newz is staggering, despite the former receiving largely positive reviews while the Karan Johar-backed comedy drama functioning on mixed word of mouth. Sarfira has closed its lifetime at Rs 22.19 cr– almost half of what Bad Newz has minted in six days.
The Anand Tiwari directorial will now suffer a further dent with Deadpool and Wolverine set to release this Friday. As the showcasing gets hit, Bad Newz would hope to cash-in on the only Hindi film working now as Kalki 2898 AD has also nearly exhausted its run. The film is looking to have a second weekend of Rs 12-14 cr.
Bad Newz will then face two new Hindi releases, Ajay Devgn-Tabu led Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha and Janhvi Kapoor headlined Ulajh on August 2, by then it would hope to do maximum business of its run if it aims to fold above Rs 70 cr.
