Bloody Ishq movie review: Vikram Bhatt’s worst film | Movie-review News

[ad_1]

If you thought that Vikram Bhatt’s moving away from haunted mansions in India to haunted castles in Scotland — the location of his latest ‘bhoot-praet’ tale — would make things better, you were wrong. Just the name should have been enough warning: the director who gave us Ghulam and the Raaz franchise, has been on a downward spiral for a while now; Bloody Ishq is undoubtedly his worst outing.

Neha (Avika Gor) wakes up in a hospital, with zero recollection of how she got there. Loving husband Rohan (Vardhan Puri) takes her tenderly by the hand and leads her into one of the most desolate castles on an island where there’s not a soul other than the two of them. Within minutes, doors crash, winds wail, and ominous background music swells.

A perfectly-turned out Neha — curled ringlets, sleek dresses — takes her time to start getting suspicious. There’s no staff to keep things in order, so who’s doing the ironing? A bunch of bad actors playing construction workers show up once in a while. The kitchen is not stocked, but the wounded wife plates up pretty pasta. Two hour plus go by and there’s only one jump scare moment.

The rest of it is a series of CGI creatures arising from ocean beds and dank basements and crashing through glass doors. Pretty psychics and faithful friends show up in the second half to finally get the naive Neha to start digging deeper, Rohan to begin protesting his innocence, and a scarlet-lipped harpy to start spilling the tea on the secrets Rohan’s father (Rahul Dev) has taken to his watery grave.

Festive offer

By which time, all we can do is to get to the end.
