For the past few months, rumours have been rife that things aren’t going well between television actor Dalljiet Kaur and her estranged husband and Kenya-based businessman, Nikhil Patel. Dalljiet’s cryptic social media posts about her husband intensified these speculations, suggesting that Nikhil was not acknowledging their marriage and was involved in an extramarital affair. She called him “shameless.” The rumours surrounding their separation started in February earlier this year when Dalljiet deleted all her wedding pictures from Instagram and dropped Patel from her name.
On May 25, the Bigg Boss alum took to her Instagram Stories to share a photo of Nikhil from his gym. She highlighted the letter ‘SN’ hinting at the businessman having an affair. She wrote, “You are out on social media with her now every day shamelessly. Your wife and son came back in 10 months of the wedding. The entire family is humiliated. Some dignity for the kids would have been good! At least you should have left your wife little dignity publicly as I was quiet about a lot of other things too.”

Now, Nikhil has finally addressed these allegations by sharing his side of the story, confirming that they’ve seperated. In an interview with ETimes, Nikhil explained the circumstances that led to their marriage falling apart within a year. Nikhil revealed that in January, Dalljiet left Kenya with her son Jaydon and returned to India, which led to their separation. He admitted that the two understood that their “blended family’s foundation” wasn’t as “solid” as they had expected it to be. These situations made it “difficult” for Dalljiet to settle in Kenya.

Nikhil further elaborated that although they had an Indian wedding ceremony in Mumbai in March 2023, it was “culturally significant” but not “legally binding”. Despite their efforts, Dalljiet wasn’t able to adjust to life in Kenya. She also missed her career in television as well as her life back in India. As the “complexities” of their family dynamics became increasingly “evident,’ the difference between them also grew with time. “Cultural clashes” and “differing values” and beliefs further strained their relationship. According to Nikhil, who has two daughters from his previous marriage, Dalljiet leaving Kenya put an end to their relationship for him, hence he decided to have a positive attitude and move forward.

Nikhil also noted that Dalljiet has expressed a desire to “return to his life” and has been overstepping boundaries. Her recent posts have been misconstrued, causing unnecessary harassment of family and friends who are not involved in the situation. Nikhil, who is a proponent of addressing misunderstandings for “clarity and respect,” wishes for this to stop. He said that he “sincerely wishes” Dalljiet “all the best,” stating that he hopes the two can “move forward” positively.
The Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega actor tied the knot with Nikhil in March of last year. For the unversed, before marrying Nikhil, Dalljiet was married to television actor Shalin Bhanot in 2009, with whom she has a son, Jaydon, born in 2014. The two had appeared on the dance reality show, Nach Baliye. In 2015, their marriage ended badly when Dalljiet filed a domestic violence case against Shalin.
