Deadpool and Wolverine box office collection day 3: The Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman-starrer superhero film has lived up to the expectations of the trade analysts, who had predicted the film would easily earn over Rs 60 crore in its opening weekend. According to the early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, Deadpool and Wolverine has earned a total of Rs 66.15 crore at the Indian box office in three days.
The Shawn Levy directorial film that opened at Rs 21 crore on its first day, saw a jump of about 7.86% on its second day and earned a whopping Rs 22.65 crore. However, on Sunday, the film witnessed an slight drop and collected Rs 22.50 crore, according to Sacnilk. The BO numbers place Deadpool and Wolverine among the top 10 opening weekends ever for Hollywood movies in India after the likes of Avengers: Endgame, Avatar: The Way of Water, Spiderman: No Way Home, Avengers: Infinity War, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The film has surpassed the collection of Godzilla x Kong to become 2024’s biggest Hollywood opener in India. In terms of Bollywood films of the year, Deadpool and Wolverine stands second after Fighter to have the biggest opening weekend collection.
Deadpool and Wolverine had an overall 38.92% English occupancy on Sunday with majority of the crowd turning up for the afternoon and evening shows. Region wise, the film enjoyed a massive occupancy in Chennai (82%), followed by Kochi (49.75%), Bengaluru (43.50%), Kolkata (37%), and Pune (36.75%). Meanwhile, in the Hindi language, the film witnessed an overall occupancy of 29.98%, with major occupancy in Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Jaipur, NCR, and Mumbai. The occupancy in the Telugu and Tamil language was at 21.88% and 58.09%, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Hollywood film had no clear impact on the already running Hindi comedy drama Bad Newz starring Vicky Kaushal and Triptii Dimri. The film saw a jump of over 50% on Saturday (Rs 3.25 crore) and earned slightly more on Sunday (Rs 3.75 crore). The film currently stands at Rs 52 crore India nett, reports Sacnilk.
It needs to be seen if the Hollywood superhero action drama manages to pass the Monday test as well as keep up with the new releases such as Auron Mein Kaha Dum Tha starring Ajay Devgn and Tabu, which is all set to release on August 2. Stree 2 and Khel Khel Mein are scheduled to hit the big screen on 15 August.
