One of the biggest Hollywood celebrities to have been accused of sexual misconduct during the #MeToo movement, actor Kevin Spacey has spent the last few years battling court cases and trying to prove his innocence, even as his career spirals. However, the actor was acquitted last year by a London court after being accused of sexually assaulting four men between 2001 and 2013, The Guardian reported. He also won a civil lawsuit in the US, in relation to a 1986 incident. Meanwhile, in the wake of the accusations, which began to surface in 2017, Spacey’s career has been in decline, with many in the industry distancing themselves from him.
Spacey recently broke down in public, saying that he hardly has any money left because of his legal fees. In an interview with Piers Morgan, Spacey said that his home in Baltimore was being sold off because he “can’t pay the bills.” He said, “This week, where I have been living in Baltimore, is being foreclosed on. My house is being sold at auction. I have to go back to Baltimore and put all my things in storage. I’m not quite sure where I’m going to live now, but I’ve been in Baltimore since we started shooting House of Cards there. I moved there in 2012.”
When asked if he is facing bankruptcy, Spacey said, “A couple of times I thought I was going to file [for bankruptcy], but we’ve managed to sort of dodge it, at least as of today.”

In response to the query of how much money he has left, the Oscar-winner said, “None… I still owe a lot of legal bills that I have not been able to pay,” adding that he is in “debt.” Spacey further mentioned that the legal bills amounted to “many millions.” When asked what his survival plan was, Spacey replied, “Get back on the horse.”
After he was accused by several people of sexual misconduct, Netflix severed ties with him and removed Spacey from the final season of House of Cards, while director Ridley Scott replaced him in his film All the Money in the World. Since then, Spacey has appeared in only three feature films, besides another movie for which he lent his voice.
