Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, who will soon be welcoming their first child, got married in 2018 and in a recent interview, mehendi artist Veena Nagda recalled some memories from their wedding in Italy. She recalled that Deepika promised to hire her for her wedding during the shoot of Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and shared how Ranveer had first decided to get his film’s symbol in the mehendi but later changed his mind and got his wife’s name.
Veena said that she wasn’t aware that she would be going for Ranveer and Deepika’s wedding until she reached the visa office and saw Ranveer’s letter. She told Bollyywood Now that the celebrity couple had booked for five days and when she asked that the mehendi function would just be a single day event, they paid her for all five days, and made sure that she had a great time sightseeing in Italy.
“Deepika had promised me during Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani that she would hire me for her wedding mehendi and she fulfilled that promise,” she recalled. She shared that while she was doing Deepika’s mehendi in Lake Como, it was really cold but since Deepika was quite fond of mehendi, she sat patiently for it. “When I did Deepika’s mehendi, it was so cold, but she got it all done on her hands an feet. She did everything to get the dark colour of the mehendi,” Veena recalled and added, “Deepika only went to dance after her mehendi was a little dry because she didn’t want to spoil it.”
Veena shared her memories with Ranveer Singh at the mehendi function, “First, Ranveer said that I will get a tiger in my mehendi because Simmba was going to come. Then he changed his mind and said ‘I want DP’s name in my mehendi’.”
Ranveer and Deepika had an intimate wedding in Italy in 2018. The two announced their pregnancy earlier this year and shared that they would be welcoming their first baby in September.
