Emily in Paris S4 Part 2 review: A Roman holiday makes the predictable tale lively | Web-series News

Compared to the first part of Emily in Paris Season 4, its second part seems more exciting as it introduces new characters, locations and a love interest to the storyline. Even as all these elements lead to drama in the idyllic Parisian life of Emily, the show headlined by Lily Collins does not let go of some of its set patterns when it comes to exploring romantic conflicts or resolving a crisis. Critics are likely to find it tedious while for the show’s loyalists it is part of the feel-good experience that the show promises.

In the episode ‘Last Christmas’, which is the first episode of this season’s second part, Emily is ready to fly to Chicago when the flight is cancelled due to snowfall. Soon, she finds herself in Megève in the French Alps, the home of Camille’s family’s ski chalet, where Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) is celebrating Christmas with Camille’s family. Stranded on top of a mountain in her skiing gear, Emily meets a handsome stranger — Italian businessman Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) –.who helps her with downhill skiing. In subsequent episodes, Emily not only takes him around Paris but visits him in Rome for a weekend of fun and romance as things get messy with Gabriel.

What is impressive about this Netflix original, created by Darren Star, are the fascinating characters who are part of Emily’s world in Paris. While her boss Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) handles some personal and professional matters in her own inimitable way, her friend-cum-roommate Mindy (Ashley Park) tries to navigate financial problems as she struggles to further her career as a singer. Along with Collins, Leroy-Beaulieu and Park boost the show’s glamour quotient as they appear in stylish outfits and redefine luxe. That has remained the show’s USP. This season too has several showstopper moments.

The end of Season 4 of Emily in Paris seems like the beginning of a new chapter in its protagonist’s life. Or, is it yet another attempt to keep the viewers hooked to the story of this go-getter, who is “lucky at work and unlucky in love”? We have so far learnt that when it comes to the matters of heart, Emily often finds herself at a crossroads. There is a strong possibility that this pattern may repeat in her life all over again as the show sets the stage of another season.
