Safety first? Well, not for Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt). The first time we see him on-screen, he gives stern instructions along these lines to someone: “Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes, Aston, now McLaren — all have speed on the straights. Our focus is battling in the turns. We need to build our car for combat.” When a supporting character asks, “How am I supposed to make that safe?”, Hayes replies without hesitation, “Who said anything about safe!” This brief exchange itself offers enough glimpses into what viewers can expect from director Joseph Kosinski’s upcoming sports action drama F1. And if that’s not enough, the teaser, unveiled recently by the makers, continues for another 94 seconds, packed with exhilarating visuals of Formula One races.
Set to the backdrop of the all-time hit song “We Will Rock You,” each shot of the teaser appears synchronised with the track’s beats. The promo also showcases a spectrum of atmospheres that can unfold over an F1 circuit, affecting racers, owners and viewers alike. Beginning with joyous and exciting moments, the mood shifts to tense, raging and even nail-biting scenes. Mishaps and crashes also occur along the way, but the race must go on.

The film also stars Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo. According to Variety, F1 tells the story of Hayes, a former Formula 1 driver who returns to the sport to mentor rookie teammate Joshua Pearce (Idris) on the fictional APXGP team. The publication also notes that the movie was filmed at real Formula 1 events such as last year’s British Grand Prix and this January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona sports car race. Renowned F1 racer Lewis Hamilton has contributed to various aspects of the film, including scriptwriting and production.
F1 is jointly produced by Apple Studios, Jerry Bruckheimer Films, Plan B Entertainment, and Dawn Apollo Films. The movie is currently set to be distributed in theaters internationally by Warner Bros Pictures on June 25, 2025, and in North America on June 27, 2025.
