Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s grand wedding festivities concluded this week in Mumbai, after months of events that saw the who’s who of business, politics, sports and entertainment in attendance. In addition to luminaries from across the world, the Ambanis also hosted influencers and social media personalities, who shared plenty of visuals and information about what the wedding was actually like on the inside. Podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia chatted with comedian Akaash Singh on his show, where they discussed their experiences at the wedding.
They spoke about the elaborate food arrangements, which saw the best restaurants serving specific regional cuisine. They also revealed that the wedding venue at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai had numerous stores giving away free products like Versace sunglasses and Benarasi sarees. “I heard they were giving away designer sunglasses, Versace sunglasses,” Akaash said, adding, “Not all of them charged; some of them just gave away s**t. It was crazy. There was a jewellery shop, they charged, because obviously you’re not just going to give away diamond necklaces.”
The theme for the wedding was Indian Regal Glam.
Allahbadia added, “There were shops built into the wedding set. There was a shop for Benarasi saris, but (the venue) was so big in size, it took to even go to each (shop). There was no way you could humanly experience all of the wedding, there was that much to do.” Sharing details about the food arrangements, he said, “It was on the floor above the wedding area. There was a floor full of food and places to eat. You enter and you see a long line, probably 300 metres, of just dessert counters. There was a pan shop, and it was run by an actual Benarasi pan shop owner. It’s like they got entire restaurants and placed them within the wedding. And that’s also what went on in the buffet upstairs.”

He continued, “There was every cuisine that you could think of, but when it comes to Indian food, it was food from Dum Pukht, which is considered one of the best in the world. There was a Japanese stall, a French stall, an Asian stall, and Italian stall. Any cuisine that you can think of, but it was the best restaurant serving that cuisine, set up within that buffet.” Akaash added, “There was tiramisu with caviar, fresh waffles with edible petals
The two also revealed that wedding guests were shown a special 10-minute movie directed by Atlee and narrated by Amitabh Bachchan, and that the ‘baraat’ procession proceeded through a large pathway where iconic singers were performing live at separate ‘stations’.
