Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is setting records even at the end of its theatrical run. The monster mashup film has entered the Rs 100 crore club in India, landing a place in the top 15 biggest Hollywood earners of all time in the country. This comes at a time when local films have been struggling to make an impression on the audience, especially in recent weeks.
According to Pinkvilla, Godzilla x Kong crossed the Rs 100 crore nett mark in India by the end of its fifth week, becoming the fourteenth Hollywood film to join this coveted club. During its fifth week, the film grossed an impressive Rs 5.75 crore at the box office, recording a drop of just a 28 per cent from the previous week. The all-India total of the film stands at Rs 125.50 crore (Rs 100.25 crore nett).
Godzilla x Kong still has some gas in the tank, and will eventually end its run as the third-biggest Hollywood release of the last few months, behind only Oppenheimer (Rs 157 crore gross), Fast X (Rs 134 crore), and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (Rs 127 crore).
Godzilla x Kong has performed the best in Tamil Nadu, grossing Rs 32 crore in the state, out-performing blockbusters like Spider-Man: No Way Home and Avengers: Infinity War in the state. The top three highest grossing Hollywood films in the country are Avatar: The Way of Water (Rs 467 cr), Avengers: Endgame (Rs 448 cr) and Avengers: Infinity War (Rs 297 cr). Other major Hollywood releases are Spider-Man: No Way Home (Rs 266 crore), The Jungle Book (Rs 259 crore), The Lion King (Rs 187 crore), Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (Rs 166 crore), Avatar (Rs 149 crore), Furious 7 (Rs 138 crore), and Jurassic World (Rs 129 crore).
