Actor Gulshan Devaiah’s admission of not ‘not vibing’ with his Ulajh co-star Janhvi Kapoor sparked debate among fans. Amid ongoing social media chatter, the Guns & Gulaabs actor has clarified his remarks, stating that he never blamed Janhvi for their equation and emphasised that one can’t always have a family-like bond with co-stars.

Speaking about Janhvi, he told News 18,, “I’m not saying it’s my or Janhvi’s fault. There are other ways of getting the job done. I never felt a lack of connect with her while doing a scene. Aisa kuch nahi tha ki mujhe uska muh nahi dekhna tha (laughs) (It’s not that I didn’t want to see her face)! But you can’t expect a family-like situation on every set,” he tells us.

While Gulshan can sense that he and Janhvi didn’t vibe on set, he believes the audience won’t notice any difference on screen. He explained how this has pushed him to achieve unimagined goals. He said, “I thought we don’t vibe but nobody can tell. This creative tussle is good as long as you’re not belittling or intentionally harming anyone because it pushes you in directions you wouldn’t have gone. The idea is to be civil and we were very civil.”

Using Rajkummar Rao as an example, with whom he has worked on three projects—Guns & Gulaabs, Badhaai Do, and Shaitan—Gulshan further explained his mindset. “Rajkummar and I just said ‘hi’ and ‘hello’ to each other and we never discussed anything whenever I’ve worked with him, which I’ve done three times by now. But when you’re doing a scene, you’ve to go with it and do what’s required of you. Janhvi and I’ve very different approaches to working and despite that, everything comes together because we’re professionals. We don’t talk about the scene too much.”

Gulshan also mentioned actors Radhika Apte and Kalki Koechlin, with whom he spends a lot of time discussing scenes, which helps create chemistry in front of the camera. He revealed that he got along well with Sonakshi Sinha on the sets of Dahaad and that they “really vibed” with each other.
