Hrithik Roshan’s sister Sunaina opens up about rare cancer, brain tuberculosis diagnosis, says she drew inspiration from him: ‘I’ve seen his dedication’ | Bollywood News

Sunaina Roshan, the daughter of veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan and the sister of actor Hrithik Roshan, opened up about her health troubles in a recent interview. Sunaina also spoke about her family, with whom she had a public dispute some years ago. She said that she looks up to Hrithik, and was inspired by his attitude when she was dealing with her own health problems.

Appearing on the HER Health Talks channel, Sunaina said that she has cancer, and brain tuberculosis. Opening up about her cancer diagnosis, she said she was working with her father as a co-producer on a project when she noticed concerning blood clots during her period. At her mother’s suggestion, she consulted a doctor. “I told my mom it’s cancer, and she said, ‘What rubbish are you speaking’,” Sunaina recalled, remembering that she decided there and then that she will be strong for her family and pull through it.

She said that she was diagnosed with the lymphoma of the cervix, which is “one of the rarest cancers in the world.” Sunaina said that she hit an emotional low when her hair started falling out because of the treatment. “Whenever we entered the ICU, I would only ask one question: ‘Doc, will my hair fall?’ He must’ve gotten tired of my questions,” she said.

She also opened up on her brain tuberculosis diagnosis and recalled how she was delirious by the time she reached hospital. She also questioned the stigma attached with TB. “I think TB is considered a stigma because people connect it with coughing and lungs, TB can impact any part of the body and isn’t contagious in most of these cases,” she said.

Sunaina also opened up about her other health issues, such as diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure. “I lost a lot of weight, but my game-changer was jaundice… I’ve always had a fatty liver, but recently, I reversed my grade 3 fatty liver to a grade 1. I was super-proud, I was crying the whole day,” she said.

Sunaina said that she hates being seen as a victim of any kind, and prefers being called a survivor. She said that she considers her parents and brother her fitness inspirations. “I never imagined I’d be on a fitness journey like this, but I’ve decided that I don’t want to be on a wheelchair. I don’t want anybody looking after me when I’m older. Seeing my brother never give up, I’ve seen his dedication personally,” she said.

In 2019, Sunaina made public statements against her family, alleging that they’re preventing her from being with her partner. “Last year and because I was in love with a Muslim guy, my father slapped me and told me that the guy I loved was a terrorist… Hrithik has no take as he is under my father’s guidance right now. Nobody is okay with my relationship, neither Hrithik nor my father,” she had said in an interview with Pinkvilla.
