Coming from a small town, when actor Rajeev Khandelwal bought his Mumbai home, one thing he wasn’t willing to compromise on was the space. He made sure to design his palatial home in such a way that were was enough room everywhere — including the kitchen — and a sit-out area. The television and film actor recently welcomed Brut into his home where every corner was designed with a personal touch.
Showing off his three-storey bungalow in Mumbai, Rajeev shared with Brut that it has a small-town effect and says, “I come from a small town and the problem with people coming from small towns is that you want space and how much ever you can afford. We wanted space and when we got hold of this property, we decided not to compromise on the space part.”
Rajeev was also clear that he wanted a room with a view. “The green garden patch was something I always wanted. When you wake up you hear birds chirping, and the greenery just gives you a feeling that you are not in Mumbai,” he said, pointing at a garden in front of his bedroom. One confession Rajeev made during the home tour was setting up a library/reading room in the house. He shared, “I wanted a space that made me look like I am a little serious who reads a lot. This happened when I was a bachelor, who would get his friends home and show them the space, looking like a literate guy. All the books I collected over the years, I wanted to bring them here.”
Rajeev also pointed out a wall that defined the actor in him. This wall carried posters of his films and a few medals he had won. Talking about one such prize, Rajeev showed a medal he won at a marathon he ran right after undergoing knee surgery. The actor also plays the piano, which enjoys pride of place in his home.
Talking about his work, the actor revealed that he has recently shot for a six-episode web series that will be released soon. The series is based on a Marathi novel.
