Ireland opener Gaby Lewis says the team hopes to carry the momentum from Wednesday’s dramatic win over England into this weekend’s T20 series at Clontarf.
Lewis hit a superb 72 to help Ireland to a final-ball DLS victory in Belfast, although England won the one-day series 2-1.
The sides meet again on Saturday and Sunday in Dublin with Lewis, who is acting captain in the absence of the injured Laura Delany, relishing the double-header.
“All I can remember is the buzz we had on Wednesday – we’re looking to bring that positivity into these two games, especially as it was a shortened match it gives us confidence in the T20 format,” she said.
Ireland again start as underdogs, sitting 10th in the T20 rankings and eight places behind England, but Lewis is predicting an upset.
“I’m looking forward to a 2-0 series win, especially as it’s in the shortened format,” she added.
“We’re in a bit of a transition phase. We’ve such young players but they’re constantly learning on the go – we’re moving in the right direction and we’re on the up.”
