Actor-turned-politician Hema Malini recently attended a political event, where she appeared to get irritated after a fan tried to put her hand on her shoulder. In a video, Hema Malini was seen asking the fan to keep her hands off her, while they posed together for a photo. Hema’s reaction divided the internet. While some supported Hema’s decisiveness, others called her ‘grumpy’.

“Haath nahi (Don’t touch please),” she said. One fan compared her to Jaya Bachchan, who is also known to be short with the paparazzi and over-eager fans, “Yeh aur Jayaji same hai. (She and Jayaji are similar),” the fan wrote. Another person commented, “Jaya Bachan and Hema Malini are the most grumpy female celebrities.” A third user supported the actor and commented, “Nothing wrong here. Even I wouldn’t like a stranger putting her hand on my shoulder. People need to understand boundaries & personal space.”
Hema Malini has been focusing on her political career in recent years; her last film was Shimla Mirchi. More recently, Hema Malini also appeared in Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar’s documentary series Angry Young Men.
