The Gen Zs may be embracing situationships as a way to navigate the complexities of modern love in this age of dating apps and casual dating, but actor Janhvi Kapoor finds the concept “retarded”. For the unversed, a situationship is an undefined, noncommittal romantic or sexual relationship.

In a recent interview with Mashable, the 27-year-old expressed disbelief in the idea of a situationship, asserting that love should be either committed or nonexistent. Ask her if she has ever been in a situationship, and pat comes the reply, “No!”

“It feels like a very retarded concept to me. Either you like someone and commit to them because you want to be with them and don’t want to share them, or you’re not interested, in which case you don’t have time to lead them on into all that nonsense,” she explained.

Janhvi Kapoor has openly acknowledged her relationship with Shikhar Pahariya. The actor recently flaunted a necklace with ‘Shiku’ written on it, leaving little doubt about her romantic status.

The Dhadak actor, who is currently busy promoting her film Ulajh, warned women to avoid men who keep them in limbo, emphasising the importance of clear boundaries in relationships. She added, “Mujhe yeh beech ka samajh mein nahi aata (I don’t understand this in-between thing). All the guys who leave you hanging, kick them and throw them out,” she said.

Recently, Janhvi Kapoor also opened up about experiencing her first heartbreak and how it didn’t affect her much because the same guy patched up with her. “I have genuinely experienced heartbreak only one time in life but the same person came back and put my heart together. So, it was all good,” she said in an interview with Hauterrfly.

Janhvi Kapoor and Shikhar Pahariya were recently spotted attending the Ambani wedding festivities. Earlier, in a chat with Mirchi Plus, the Gunjan Saxena actor had revealed apart from her late mother and actor Sridevi and father Boney Kapoor, her beau Shikhar has been her support system. “He has been in my life since I was 15-16. I think my dreams have always been his dreams and his dreams have always been my dreams. We’ve been very close. We’ve been each other’s support system almost as if we’ve raised each other,” she shared.

Festive offer

Janhvi portrays an IFS officer in her upcoming film Ulajh, which is slated for release on August 2, 2024. Directed by Sudhanshu Saria and produced by Vineet Jain under Junglee Pictures, Ulajh is a spy thriller, also featuring Gulshan Devaiah, Roshan Mathew, Rajesh Tailang and Adil Hussain in the lead roles.
