Janhvi Kapoor, who is currently promoting her film Mr and Mrs Mahi, recently opened up about her sheltered life and how her mother, late actor Sridevi, worked hard all her life so her kids could enjoy a luxurious life. Janhvi said that she found this kind of existence “hollow” and it “unnerved” her as she judges those who don’t have the ambition to seek experiences. Janhvi was speaking about living a protected life vs the kind of life where one gets to make mistakes and learn from them.

“I want to be wealthy in my soul,” Janhvi said in a conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia as she added, “I want a lot more from life emotionally than just the comforts that would have been easily be offered to me.” Janhvi is the daughter of late actor Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor. Janhvi then spoke about her sheltered existence and said, “I want to be enriched, I want my well to be full of experiences. I have lived a very sheltered life. Mom and Dad have been very over protective of me and I think as a result of that, I seek experiences a lot more because I feel it was kept from me.”

Janhvi said that her mother believed that because she had worked so hard, Janhvi and her younger sister Khushi should live in comfort. “Mom’s logic, of course, was that I have lived so much, seen so much, done so much so I can just give my kids comfort and luxury without them having to go through any of it. But I am not interested in that kind of hollow existence. In, fact it unnerves me, almost to a point of fault because I judge people who lack curiosity and that kind of ambition to seek experiences or are uninterested in discovering what their identity means and I don’t mean like professional triumphs of our conventional notions of success. I mean like internal enrichment. I feel I unfairly judge those people, I should work on it. I have always been curious,” she said.

Janhvi shared that she wants to seek experiences that are out of her comfort zone. Previously, she has spoken about going out of her way for her film roles so she can make them as authentic as possible.
