Kangana Ranaut, who recently appeared on the panel of a news show, was asked about veteran actor and Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan and in a rare turn of events, Kangana praised Jaya and called her one of the most dignified actresses in the film industry. Just a few days ago, Kangana had criticised Jaya when the latter objected to being called ‘Jaya Amitabh Bachchan’ in Rajya Sabha.
At the News 18 event, Kangana was asked to share her opinion on Jaya and the Emergency actor said, “Jaya Bachchan is one of our most successful actors. Honestly, she is known for her short temper but honestly at the same time, I would like to give her the acknowledgement and due credit that in those times… Can you imagine what times were the 70s and in those times, she did films like Guddi, she gave the message of women empowerment. I think she is one of the most dignified women in the film industry. The way she carries herself in the Rajya Sabha… I feel very good that there is such good representation from the film industry.”
Kangana then added, “Jaya Bachchan is one of those rare actresses who has brought dignity to her craft.” When asked about the war of words they had in 2020 when Jaya criticised Ravi Kishan and Kangana Ranaut’s remarks about drugs in Bollywood, Kangana said, “If we say something to each other… I feel these are our elders, if they say something, it’s not bad.”
After the recent incident where Jaya objected to being addressed with her husband’s name, Kangana said Jaya’s concerns were “petty issues” and called her “arrogant.” “People are simply flaring up with the name coming up like they’re getting a panic attack or something. And when they say, ‘My identity is taken over, I am destroyed’ I just feel sad,” Ranaut told Fever FM.
