Kangana Ranaut, who is producing, directing and starring in her upcoming film Emergency, recently opened up about her “diva” days when she would demand a particular hotel from the producer of a film and would threaten that if she didn’t get it, she wouldn’t shoot for their movie. Kangana was asked how she felt like being on the other side now that she is a producer herself and the actor said that her “karma” has come back to “haunt” her.
In a chat with Mashable India, Kangana was asked if she empathises with production managers now that she is a producer herself and the actor said, “I have always been a very empathetic person. I don’t like people who are fake. I hate fake people. I am the most gentle, soft hearted, empathetic…” When asked if she had any “diva demands” as a heroine on set where she presented a list of things that she needs on set, the actor said that she has been through a “reality check”.
Without elaborating much on her answer, Kangana implied that she has also faced tough demands from her actors and said that she would have very strict demands about hotel rooms back in the day. And if those were not met, she would refuse to shoot. “That reality check happened with me. That karma came back to haunt me,” she said and added, “I told my brother one day that it is my karma. We would also say that we need this particular hotel or we wouldn’t shoot.”
Kangana Ranaut has been actively promoting her film Emergency where she plays the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The movie also stars Milind Soman, Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Choudhary, late Satish Kaushik, among others.
Kangana started her career as an actor in the 2006 film Gangster. She later delved into direction with her 2009 film Manikarnika which ran into problems during the shoot. She is now a Member of Parliament from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.
