Alia Bhatt-starrer Jigra found itself in some controversies before the release and it appears that the controversies have impacted the film’s collections at the box office. Amid the film’s struggle at the box office, director Vasan Bala’s work has received some praise and when a story urging Karan Johar to have his director’s back was published by us, Vasan shared it on his social media and assured that Karan is standing by him.

Alia Bhatt was the first to share this on her social media and soon after, Vasan also shared it. Vasan captioned his repost with lyrics inspired by Jigra’s track, “Tenu Sang Rakhna,” saying, “They have my back, kujj na howe. Ye sab ho jaawe no matter what.” Karan responded by reposting it with a reassuring message, writing, “Always and forever.”

Recently, Divya Khosla Kumar took to Instagram to accuse Alia Bhatt and producer Karan Johar of inflating Jigra’s box office numbers. In what seemed like an indirect response to Divya, Karan shared a cryptic Instagram story, saying, “Silence is the best speech you will ever give to fools.” In an interview with Hindustan Times, Divya responded to Karan’s comment, questioning his choice of words. “Is it right to call a woman a fool for pointing out unethical practices?” she asked. “If this happens to me, what about those new to the industry? No one is a king here, and I won’t be treated like a subject,” she said.

Additionally, actor Bijou ThaangJam, known for films like Mary Kom and Rocketry, accused the Jigra producers of discrimination against actors from the north-east. He claimed that he was finalised for a role but was not given any specific dates, thus he missed out on other opportunities. Bijou shared his frustration on X, stating, “I understand how big production houses operate. The director is undeniably talented, but the way they handled this entire situation was deeply unprofessional. For actors like me from the Northeast, it felt particularly dismissive, almost discriminatory.”

Festive offer

Jigra, co-produced by Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar, features Alia in the lead role alongside Vedang Raina.
