It’s the singer’s first new song since settling her lawsuit with Dr. Luke and splitting with his label via RCA

Kesha has teased a new song called “Joy Ride.” On Sunday, the singer took to Instagram to share a snippet of the track and announced that it will arrive on July 4.

In the Instagram video clip, Kesha is seen in several different red outfits as she poses on a car, takes a ride in a convertible while flipping off the camera, dons a red cowboy hat, and holds up a handwritten cardboard sign with the song’s name on it. The upbeat song teaser features the repeated line “I’m a bitch.” Kesha also captioned the video with the sentiment: “You’re right, I am a bitch,” she wrote.

The song’s Independence Day arrival is a fitting date for its release given Kesha’s newfound freedom. It will be the first new song she has released since she settled the nearly decade-long defamation lawsuit with Dr. Luke last summer, years after Kesha filed a suit against the producer in 2014 alleging sexual, physical, and emotional abuse. It also marks her first release since she parted ways with Dr. Luke’s Kemosabe imprint via RCA in December.

She also recently celebrated her first show as a “free motherfucking woman” during WeHo Pride at Outloud Fest, where she debuted new unreleased song “Freedom.”

“This is my first show as a free motherfucking woman,” Kesha said during her headlining set before she premiered “Freedom” live. She added: “Anybody else feeling free as fuck tonight?”

Kesha’s “Joy Ride” arrives a week before Katy Perry’s new song “Woman’s World” will drop from her upcoming sixth album, which Dr. Luke co-produced alongside Max Martin, Stargate, and several others. Perry has previously worked with the production pair of Dr. Luke and Martin on some of her biggest hits, including “I Kissed a Girl,” “Teenage Dream,” “Dark Horse,” and “Roar.”
