After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) last year, Karan Johar’s action-packed venture Kill is set to release in India. The makers unveiled the film’s trailer on Wednesday. The film stars newcomer Lakshya Lalwani, marking his Bollywood debut, alongside TV personality and choreographer Raghav Juyal as the antagonist.

The trailer begins with Lakshya, a soldier, proposing to his girlfriend Tanya Maniktala on a train. However, their romantic journey soon turns into a nightmare when a group of goons attack the train. The violent saga begins after Raghav’s character abducts Tanya’s character. To save the love of his life, the not-so-ordinary soldier goes on a killing spree. What follows are gory visuals of Lakshya ruthlessly killing the goons, turning the train red. He is so merciless that even Juyal’s character is forced to say, “Aise kaun marta hai? (Who kills like this?)”.

The film’s synopsis on TIFF’s official website reads, “In Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s relentless martial arts thriller, a passenger train bound for New Delhi becomes a bloody battleground of brutal close-quarters combat as a pair of commandos square off against a 40-strong army of invading bandits.”

Kill premiered in the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto International Film Festival in 2023. The film earned a spot among the ten selected films for screening at the film festival. Produced by Dharma Productions and Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment, Kill is directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat.

Lakshya was previously set to debut in the movies with Dostana 2, also starring Janhvi Kapoor and Kartik Aaryan. After shooting for a month, the film was shelved.

Kill releases in theatres on July 5.
