Madalsa Sharma, television actor and daughter-in-law of Mithun Chakraborty, recently opened up about her love story with Mimoh Chakraborty, describing their relationship as a “love-cum-arranged marriage.” In an interaction with Siddharth Kannan, Madalsa revealed that her father and Mithun were classmates at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), which added a special connection to their union.
Sharing how she met Mimoh, Madalsa recounted, “We first met at the music launch of one of my mom’s films, and since then, we stayed in touch. It wasn’t like we were dating. I was around 16 or 17 at the time. Almost seven years later, when I was in New York, I posted a photo as my WhatsApp status, and Mimoh saw it and messaged me. He asked about my work plans, mentioning that his father is good at reading birth charts and could tell me about my future. So, I shared my birth details with him.”
She continued, “Later, amidst everything his father predicted about my future, Mimoh cleverly added that his dad also said ‘we’d be compatible if we ended up together.’ That was how it started. We decided to meet when I returned to India, and I believe it was destiny. Everything just fell into place. We got engaged a week after we met and were married six months later.”
Madalsa also shared the reactions of Mithun and her father when they learned about her relationship with Mimoh. She recalled, “Our parents knew each other, but our relationship started with us. When we told them about each other, we discovered that our fathers had known each other for years. They were together at FTII in Pune, where my father did a course in direction and Mithun did one in acting. They even worked together on a film, Tere Pyaar Mein, which my father directed, starring Mithun. Both our fathers were overjoyed when they found out about Mimoh and me.”
Mithun Chakraborty was recently announced as the recipient of the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
