Manoj Bajpayee along with his wife Shabana Raza Bajpayee sold their apartment in the upscale Mahalaxmi neighborhood in South Mumbai for Rs 9 crore, according to documents reviewed by the real estate consultancy platform Square Yards. According to Money Control, the actor had purchased the property located in Minerva residential tower for Rs 6.40 crore in 2013 with his wife as its co-owner. The tower was built by Lokhandwala Kataria Consructions and reportedly has 362 units on two-acre land parcel. The apartment sold by Manoj and Shabana has a carpet area of 1,247 sq ft, or 116 sq metres. It also has two car parking spaces covering a total of 240 sq ft, or 22 sq metres.
Manoj Bajpayee, who claims to love to lead an upper middle-class life, is also an investor in commercial estate. Last year, the actor and his wife invested Rs 31 crore in four office units on the 12th floor of the Signature building, Oshiwara, according to documents accessed by Floortap.com. A stamp duty of Rs 1.86 crore was paid for this deal by the actor and his wife. Previously, celebs including Amitabh Bachchan, Kartik Aaryan, Sara Ali Khan along with her mother Amrita Singh and Ajay Devgn-Kajol too had acquired commercial space in the same project.
In his earlier interview, Manoj Bajpayee had opened up about his lifestyle choices despite becoming one of the most successful actors in Bollywood. In an interview with RealHit, the Satya star said, “You need to have enough money for medical expenses and for your children’s education. You need to be able to life a comfortable, dignified life, where you don’t have to borrow money from anybody. That’s it. Otherwise, there’s no limit. The limit is Ambani. There are lots of rich people in the world, and I cannot become like them through acting. You have to set your own limits, and rein in your greed.”
The actor further revealed how he travels in cheap cars with less features to stay grounded. He said, “We live a middle-class life. And we are proud of it. But here’s what happens, when you make a name for yourself, luxuries follow. I don’t have to ask for them. But at the end of the day, we prefer our upper middle-class life, because that’s where the peace lies. You have to choose between greed and peace, and we choose peace… I have a big car and a cheap, small car. I prefer driving the small car whenever we’re going out together or I’m going to buy groceries.”
The actor currently lives in a luxurious apartment in Oberoi Towers, Lokhandwala, Andheri. The estimated value of his house is Rs 10 crore, according to NoBrokerHood. The actor bought the property in 2007 and is designed by his wife Shabana Raza Bajpayee. According to details shared on The NoBroker Times, the flooring of the house is a combination of stone and wood. It includes a sofa with silver legs. The house is decorated with paintings by Mauritain artists Vaco Baissac and Yves David, and Indian artist Chintan Upadhyay. The house also has a library, which is well-stocked with Hindi, English and world classics. The kitchen consists of modern amenities with a minimalist theme. There is a small temple near the entrance of the house. A special area is dedicated for the actor’s trophy display. Manoj also has a den room, which consists of semicircular seating, projector and mini multiplex.
