Comedian and television presenter Bharti Singh and her writer husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa appreciated Farah Khan’s generosity and kindness, despite being a high-profile Bollywood personality with a decades-long career. They also praised her for constantly looking to evolve as a creative person, and appreciated her for being a gracious host. Recalling one of Farah’s many parties, they said that she once made them try a rather unusual food that Bharti described as ‘Europe ka kachra (garbage from Europe)’.

Haarsh said in an episode of their podcast, “She invited us to eat ‘English’ food once. There was sushi, and ‘ajeeb (strange)’ stuff. There was also something that looked like ‘keechad (mud)’. It looked like mud, but it was actually some mushroom dish.” He patted Bharti and asked if she remembers the dish, and Bharti said, “It was fungus.”

She added, “They were calling it ‘European fungus’, and I thought, ‘Matlab, Europe ka kachra (You mean garbage from Europe)?’ We think of fungus as mould, but they eat it. Come over to my house, I’ll also feed you onion peels.” Bharti joked that she was admitted to hospital a week later, but clarified that it had nothing to do with having eaten ‘fungus’. Haarsh continued, “Aur Bandra ka tagda restaurant tha, mehenga restaurant tha (It was a big, Bandra restaurant. It was very expensive).”

He added, “She’s so sweet. If you ask her for her special mutton dish, she makes sure that she sends it over the very next day. I’ve never seen such a big celebrity be so kind.” Bharti said that she learns a lot from Farah, and described her as an extremely ‘hard-working’ person. Both Bharti and Haarsh praised Farah for always looking to evolve. “She has a bunch of Filmfare awards, National Awards, she’s made some of the biggest films, but she knew that it makes sense to start a YouTube channel,” he said.

Festive offer

Farah recently launched her personal YouTube channel, where she creates cooking videos with her personal chef. The humorous videos have garnered praise, and a loyal following.
