Meenakshi Seshadri, who marked her debut with the 1983 film Hero, went on to work with several stars of the time including Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, Jackie Shroff, Rajesh Khanna, and Vinod Khanna, among others before she left the film industry in 1996 after her film Ghatak. In a recent interview, the veteran star recalled some of her fond memories from her acting days. While she spoke about all her co-stars, she recalled a funny anecdote with her co-star Jeetendra.

In an interview with Lehren Retro, the 60-year-old actor recalled shooting for the song “Choli Tere Tan Pe Kasi Kasi” from the 1985 film Hoshiyar, where the actors had to shoot sequences with mosambis (sweet lime) being thrown at them, which was quite painful.

She said, “I have done quite a few films with Jeetendra. One of the best memories I have with him is, we were shooting for a song sequence in Ooty and huge mosambis were thrown at us down the slopes. When someone is throwing mosambis with that force at you, and when it hits your body, the pain is unexplainable. And we were shooting a sensuous song. I will never forget this.”

Hoshiyar, directed by K Raghavendra Rao, also starred Shatrughan Sinha and Jaya Prada in lead roles. The songs for the film was composed by Bappi Lahiri. It was a remake of the film Telugu film Kirayi Rowdylu. The film, however, was a flop at the box office.

Festive offer

In the same interview, she also revealed that Shatrughan Sinha, who was known for being late to sets, came on time for her. “I was shooting in Chennai and had to be in Mumbai for another film. I requested Shatrughan Sinha to be on set on time, he was so sweet, he was there. After the scene, he told me, ‘Don’t tell this to anyone’.”

Meenakshi and Jeetendra also reunited for the films Mahaguru (1985), Aag Se Khelenge (1989), and Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi (1992).
