‘Priyanka Chopra has the aura of a star,’ The Chainsmokers recall making their first song with her: ‘It was kind of funny’ | Bollywood News

When Priyanka Chopra was still trying to make a career in Hollywood, she first tried her hand at music as she released a few singles with Pitbull and will.i.am. It was around this time in the early 2010s that The Chainsmokers released their first song and it happened to be a collaboration with PeeCee. In a recent interview, the musical duo recalled how that collaboration happened and shared that they didn’t meet Priyanka until eight years after that song.

In a chat with Raj Shamani on his podcast, The Chainsmokers said that “Erase”, their song with Priyanka was “technically our first song”. Andrew recalled that at the time, he was interning with Interscope Records and they gave him the opportunity to remix a few of their songs. It was around the same time that the label had signed Priyanka too. “They had me remixing songs of her and songs of other Interscope artistes, which was a huge opportunity for me. I remember I got some vocals from the ‘Erase’ song and they were like, the production is not right, can you make a new production? So I made that production and everyone liked it,” he shared.

When all of this was happening, Andrew joined Alex and formed The Chainsmokers and since they already had this song, they decided to make it their first song. But, until then, they had never met Priyanka Chopra. In fact, they first met her at a restaurant in Los Angeles eight years later. “We met at a restaurant in LA. She was there and you know she’s such a nice amazing person. She looks like a star. She has this aura around her so it was like nerve wracking. We said, ‘Hey, I don’t even know if you know this but we had a song together.’ And she was like ‘Oh my god, I have been hoping to run into you guys, meet you at some point.’ It was super sweet and it was kind of funny. Eight years later, that’s the music business for you,” they recalled.

The Chainsmokers were recently in India to perform in Mumbai.
