Priyanka Chopra may be away from Bollywood films, but her love for Indian cinema remains as strong as ever, just like her fans who eagerly await her return. She frequently expresses her affection for Hindi cinema and shares glimpses of her early acting days. Recently, Priyanka posted throwback photos from Mujhse Shaadi Karogi to celebrate the film’s 20th anniversary. On Friday, she reminisced about her stage performances during her early Bollywood days, recalling the joy of dancing to songs from her films at award shows in the early 2000s. The video showcases her dancing to hit songs like “Khudaya Khair” (2009), “Mar Jawaan” (2008), “Desi Girl” (2008), and “Laal Dupatta” (2004).
Priyanka shared a video montage of her various dance performances at award events in India. Reflecting on her early career, she spoke about her unexpected passion for the stage and dancing. “When I first started working in the movies in Mumbai, I truly did not know how much of a love affair I would have with the stage and especially dancing on it. When I was in school, I was always doing extracurriculars on stage, but there was something that just hit different when I was performing on songs from my movies sung by the most incredible singers in India and being able to deliver entertainment to a live audience. It is intoxicating,” the actor wrote on Instagram, sharing a video featuring her past stage performances.
“It’s the closest I’ve felt to doing what my husband does every day,” added the Bajirao Mastani actor, referencing her musician husband Nick Jonas’ performance at live concerts.
Priyanka Chopra shared that looking back at the old video made her nostalgic about the numerous rehearsals and the guidance she received from talented choreographers and dancers. “This is just a throwback to a girl in her 20s, shaping the woman that I am today. I’m proud of her. And grateful for her dedication and hustle. Take the time to be proud of your younger self. You are you today because of your tenacity yesterday,” wrote the Quantico star.
Priyanka, who was crowned Miss Word at the age of 17, in 2000, in her post also gave a nod to her “younger self” for hustling hard to be where she is today. “I’m proud of her and grateful for her dedication and hustle. Take the time to be proud of your younger self. You are you today because of your tenacity yesterday,” wrote Priyanka, who is mother to Malti Marie Chopra Jonas. Priyanka’s singer husband, commenting on her post, said he is her “biggest fan forever and always”.
