Radhika Madan recently opened up about her journey to success after she transitioned from TV to films. She shared how she overcame anxiety by embracing detachment. Radhika, known for her roles in films like Pataakha and Angrezi Medium, recently shared her story of perseverance and self-discovery. She recalled the time she gave her “worst audition” for Dharma Productions’ Student of the Year 2, which left her feeling anxious and sick. The film, backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, ultimately starred Tiger Shroff along with Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria.
“I got a very big audition… It was for Student of the Year 2. I psyched myself so much. I was preparing so much, it wasn’t even a two-page scene, I’d read it in my sleep as well. I psyched myself so much that I got sick before the audition. I had a fever, I had a cold, and I gave the worst audition of my life. I was so anxious,” Radhika told Filmfare.
This experience served as a turning point for Radhika. She shared that she realised that her anxiety was holding her back and decided to adopt a new approach. “That day I promised myself that I am never going to feel this way, that I don’t want to be in a limbo and feel this anxious in my life.”
Radhika’s newfound mindset helped her land the role in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Pataakha alongside Sanya Malhotra. “After that Student Of The Year (2) audition, after two weeks of giving the worst audition of my life, I got the audition for Pataakha. I was told it was a Vishal Bhardwaj film, and I was like, ‘He’s not going to take me anyway, I’ll go there and live my life . I’ll live those two minutes to the fullest, no one can snatch that away from me.’”
With this carefree attitude, Radhika nailed the audition. “I went with that approach, I had a blast, I was called back. Again, I didn’t have any kind of expectation. I was like, ‘I’m going to get three more minutes.’… And then they were like, ‘You are selected,’ and I was like, ‘Me?’”
Radhika’s success continued with Angrezi Medium, where she starred alongside Irrfan Khan. She reminisced about the audition process, “Why would anyone cast me, a new girl, with Irrfan sir? There was someone from the casting team who was acting like Irrfan sir; I thought to myself, ‘How a nakli Irrfan sir was sitting in front of me.’ And I decided that it was my moment, and I’d never get this opportunity ever again, so I went ahead and acted with nakli Irrfan sir and came back.” Radhika’s experience with Angrezi Medium’s audition process taught her the value of living in the moment. “I gave four rounds of auditions, enjoyed myself acting with nakli Irrfan sir, and was happy that I got to live my dream.”
Radhika was last seen in Sarfira with Akshay Kumar.
