Choreographer-director Remo D’Souza recently recalled his heart attack and said it was a scary time as he had “100 percent blockage”. Remo also thanked superstar Salman Khan, who was constantly in touch with his wife Lizelle while he was in the hospital. In a podcast for Mashable India hosted by Mukesh Chhabra, Remo opened up about his 2020 health scare. He underwent angiography at Kokilaben Hospital.

“Salman was the main person, who was constantly with my wife on the phone, from the time I went inside the operation theatre to the time I came out, in the ICU and on the bed. He was there throughout on the call. There’s a reason why he is so loved. He has (a golden heart),” he said about Salman, whom he directed in Race 3.

Remo D’Souza recalled how the incident happened, stating that he was supposed to attend a Bigg Boss episode later in the evening. “I was in the gym when I started feeling uneasy. I didn’t work out, but after stretching I started feeling some pain which just wasn’t going. Later, I started feeling puckish. My wife said let’s go to the hospital and I didn’t refuse. When I reached the hospital, the doctor told me I have 100 percent blockage, it was a major heart attack.”

Remo said while his wife broke down hearing the doctor, he was “laughing” as he couldn’t believe how could he have a heart attack as he was a fitness freak. “The doctor said it is because I am fit that I could walk and come, anyone else would have not made it here at all. It was scary. May lord not show even my enemy what I felt.”

Remo D’Souza last directed Varun DhawanShraddha Kapoor starrer Street Dancer 3D, which released in 2020. He is now awaiting his next, Be Happy, which stars Abhishek Bachchan.
