Bollywood is arguably witnessing one of the toughest times where many films are not working at the box office and there have been many discussions around the increasing budget of films and the high entourage costs. Recently, Rohit Shetty, who is known for giving several hits to Bollywood such as the Golmaal series, Singham, Sooryavanshi, and Simmba among others, also shared his opinion on the issue. In a new interview, the filmmaker said that the cost of making films has increased overall, thereby hinting that entourage cost and star fee is not the only problem in Bollywood’s ongoing crisis.

In a recent interview with Showsha, when Rohit Shetty was asked if he too was facing the challenge of high entourage fees, the filmmaker was quick to respond, “Not really.” He further explained, “With me, it’s totally different. I agree the cost has gone up. But when we say the cost has gone up, it’s not just the actors. It’s everything from travelling to ticketing to hotels, everything has gone up. So it’s not just the actors. The whole cost has gone up. Just keeping in mind that because the cast is ensemble so a lot of money is being spent on the cast, it’s not like that.

In May, indianexpress.com had reported how technicians and writers are at the receiving end due to the unregulated fee and demands of top stars.

Similarly, several industry insiders including Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap too addressed the issue. At the trailer launch of his production film Kill, Karan Johar told indianexpress.com star fee isn’t always viable, which makes it difficult to mount a film. Previously, Farah Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui said actors should adhere to their fixed fees without increasing unnecessary expenses.

Festive offer

On the work front, Rohit Shetty is currently working on his film Singham Again starring Ajay Devgn, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor, and Arjun Kapoor in the lead roles.
