Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has announced a fresh release date of his big-scale drama Love and War, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. The film was earlier supposed to release on the big screen in December 2025 but has now been pushed.
The makers of the film issued a statement where they announced the new release date of the romantic drama, which will now release on March 20, 2026. According to the makers, the strategic moves is to ensure that the film benefits from major festivals around the time.
The makers of Love and War would hope to benefit at the box office from festivals like Ramzan, Ram Navmi, and Gudi Padwa following one after the other. The film is supposed to go on floors later this year, with a long schedule reportedly being chalked out to accommodate the three leading stars.
Love and War will be the first collaboration of Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Leela Bhansali after the actor’s 2007 debut Saawariya. While Vicky Kaushal has never worked with the filmmaker, Alia Bhatt headlined his 2022 drama Gangubai Kathiawadi.
Earlier this year, there were reports that Ranbir Kapoor came on board Love and War only after putting certain “terms and conditions” in his contract, which mainly related to the working conditions of a Bhansali film set.
Ranbir had famously opened up about working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali as an assistant director in his National Award-winning feature Black revealing how the filmmaker used to make him and others on set kneel down “for hours”, “hit” and “abuse” them. Apart from Love and War, Ranbir will also be seen in Ramayan and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal Park.
