Shah Rukh Khan, who, at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, was honoured with the coveted Pardo Alla Carriera Award for his contribution to cinema, recently opened up about his “300 awards” and said that he has a dedicated room in his house where he stores all his awards.
SRK, who has been an actor for over three decades said that he is “shameless” about receiving awards and loves the adulation he gets from the audience. He even shared how he stores all the awards at his home and said that he has 300 awards.
In in interview with The Guardian, when he was asked if he has a special cabinet to place all the awards at his home, he said, “I do. It’s bigger than this room! I have 300 awards. I have a nine-storey office and on every floor I have some of the awards. Actually, it’s not a trophy room. It’s a library which is designed like an English library.”
When asked if he enjoys awards ceremonies after all these years, he shared, “I enjoy it. I am very shameless about this. I love getting awards. I love the ceremony. I get a little nervous if I have to give speeches.”
The star then opened up about feeling a wee bit “nervous” when he is on the stage to receive honours on international platforms and that he tries to “control” his sense of humour. He said, “Especially with international awards, because then I need to make sure Indian cinema is presented well. I have to be on my best behaviour. I have to control my sense of humour. Because cinema for India is such an important thing.”
This is not the first time SRK has expressed his love for awards. At the recently held 2024 Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards in Mumbai, Shah Rukh Khan won the Best Actor award for Jawan. Here, he had said that he is a bit “greedy” when it comes to getting awards.
“I thank the jury who considered me worthy of the Best Actor Award. I haven’t been given the Best Actor Award in a long time. It seemed as if I would not get it again. So, I am extremely happy. I love receiving awards. I am a bit greedy,” he had said.
Shah Rukh Khan will next be seen sharing the screen with his daughter, actor Suhana Khan, in Sujoy Ghosh’s King.
