Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan returned from Switzerland with patriotic fervour, marking India’s 78th Independence Day with a traditional flag hoisting ceremony at his iconic Mumbai residence, Mannat.

Joined by his family, including wife Gauri Khan, daughter Suhana Khan, and son AbRam Khan, Shah Rukh, who was recently honoured with a prestigious award at the Locarno Film Festival, adhered to an annual tradition, showcasing his love for the nation. After the flag-raising ceremony, the actor treated eager fans gathered outside his residence with a heartwarming gesture, waving and expressing gratitude. Sporting a casual look with long hair, a white T-shirt, jeans, and sunglasses, the Pathaan actor exuded a relaxed yet celebratory vibe. Suhana and Gauri were dressed in all-white traditional ensemble, completing the look with bindis.

 

Taking to social media, the actor extended Independence Day wishes to his fans, sharing a family photo with the Indian flag as the backdrop. “Let’s celebrate our beautiful country India with pride in our hearts…. Happy Independence Day and love to all,” wrote the 58-year-old.

Shah Rukh Khan, who presented his 2002 film Devdas at the Locarno Film Festival, is currently immersed in the production of action-drama King, also starring Suhana and Abhishek Bachchan. The actor described the Sujoy Ghosh directorial as a “massy, emotional film” in an interview with Variety.

The Don actor has also lent his voice to the Hindi version of Disney’s live action film Mufasa: The Lion King. While SRK portrays the adult Mufasa, his sons Aryan and AbRam have voiced Simba and young Mufasa, respectively. The film is slated for release on December 20.
