Days after fans speculated that Karan Johar was gearing up to announce Dhadak 2, featuring a fresh pair, Siddhant Chaturvedi, in an Instagram post, revealed that he will be seen in the sequel of the 2018 Dharma Productions film. Sharing an animated teaser poster, the Inside Edge actor wrote, “Ek Raja, Ek Rani, Ek Kahaani – 2 Dhadkane #Dhadak2 in cinemas 22nd November 2024.” The teaser also reveals that Animal actor Triptii Dimri will feature alongside Siddhant.

Dhadak, a remake of Marathi film Sairat, was the launchpad of Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter in Bollywood.

Produced by Zee Studios, Dharma Productions, and Cloud 9 Pictures, Dhadak 2 is slated for release on November 22, 2024. As speculated, the film will be directed by Shazia Iqbal. According to the makers, Dhadak 2 promises a compelling story that explores love and challenges social norms. The gripping motion poster has themes like “Dalit Lives Matter” and “Educate, Agitate, Organise” written on it.

The film follows Siddhant’s character as he navigates a love story that breaks through societal expectations and class barriers, promising a journey filled with romance, drama, and emotions that will resonate with audiences worldwide. Keeping up with the theme of the original film, Dhadak 2 will also focus on caste-based discrimination which will act as an obstacle in Siddhanth and Triptii’s love story. Karan Johar also took to his Instagram handle to make the official announcement. “Yeh kahaani hai thodi alag kyunki ek tha raja, ek thi rani, jaat alag thi, khatam kahaani. Presenting Dhadak 2 starring Siddhant Chaturvedi & Triptii Dimri. Directed by Shazia Iqbal. #Dhadak2 in cinemas 22nd November 2024,” he captioned the post.
