Oh Stree Kal Aana– but she is here today. After breaking the box office records of mighty blockbusters, Stree 2 has made its way to streaming. The Amar Kaushik directed horror comedy, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, is now streaming on an OTT platform after a blockbuster theatrical run that began on August 15.
The film took everyone by surprise by breaking the Hindi language record set by Shah Rukh Khan’sJawan and netting more than Rs 620 cr at the box office. The only record that it didn’t break was becoming the highest-earning Hindi film across India, which is still held by Jawan, with Rs 640 cr.
Now, after a historic run, Stree 2 is streaming on Prime Video. The film, backed by Dinesh Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande under the banner of Maddock Films and Jio Studios, respectively, also starred Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana.
Manish Menghani, director of Content Licensing, Prime Video India, said that Stree 2 captivated audiences with its powerful storytelling, “fortifying horror-comedy as a successful and sought-after genre.” Producer Dinesh Vijan said that Stree 2 is a special film for the team, and stands as a testament that “strong and loved characters and a well-rounded narrative” can be the driving force behind a film’s success. “We’re truly humbled by the success of the film and the love the cast has received. It has reinforced our belief in the power of storytelling. After a super successful theatrical run, we’re thrilled to bring this story to the Amazon Prime audience across India and the world.”
