Actor Suniel Shetty said that he has always strived to provide a better life for his family, and not to build a business empire. The actor, who has been working in the film industry for over 30 years, said that although people might think of him as a “big businessman”, that’s far from true. Chatting with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa on their podcast, the actor spoke about his career, and how a lot of his decisions were emotionally motivated. But even when his films failed, he never “lost heart”. Suniel Shetty said he has been fortunate that “lakshmi” (wealth) has been kind to him, offering him ways to grow in life despite the odds.

“There is a perception that I am a big businessman, which actually isn’t true. I do my bit and I live within my means. You will never see me driving four cars, I drive one and I will enjoy it for two years. If I want a house, I want that one, I won’t settle for anything ordinary. When I can afford it, I will do the best. You spend the most time in your house, so if the house doesn’t invite you, there is no point,” he said.

“People today say, ‘You must see Suniel Shetty’s farmhouse,’ I built it 16 years ago! Back then, its financial valuation was perhaps (nothing) but my idea was to grow up with my children, Athiya and Ahan, to spend time with them over the weekend, do farming, all the trees there are planted by us. What had rocks before, there are more than 400 trees there. The house was built for this. That it is valuable now is a different story,” he added.

The actor said he never plans to sell neither his farmhouse nor his Mumbai residence, as he looks at them as emotional investments rather than financial. “I didn’t plan this, I will never even sell it so its value is zero from a price perspective. But from a personal perspective, it is priceless. Same for this house where I live, for the outside world it will have a price but not for me. I would never want to sell it. I always wanted to give to kids where they feel happy and you continue to do what you are meant to do. Never stop doing for people, you will only get more.”

On the work front, the actor has two films in his line-up, Welcome to the Jungle 3 headlined by Akshay Kumar and Hera Pheri 3, which is reportedly caught in a legal mess and will go on floors later.
