The Buckingham Murders box office collection day 5: Kareena Kapoor-starrer crime thriller has a long way to go before it crosses the Rs 10 crore mark even after five days of its release in theatres. The film, majorly shot in the English language, received plaudits for Kareena Kapoor’s performance, but the story didn’t hit the right chord with the audience. The Hansal Mehta directorial, which opened at Rs 1.15 crore nett in India, earned Rs 75 lakh on its fifth day, according to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk. The film’s total now stands at Rs 6.80 crore India nett.
It is important to note that the film had only 1100 shows on Tuesday. The film witnessed an overall occupancy of 11.15% in the Hindi language with majority of the crowd watching the night show. The crime thriller had a total of 313 shows in the Delhi/NCR and an occupancy of 11%, followed by 167 shows in Ahmedabad (6% occupancy), and 157 shows in Mumbai with 13.25% occupancy.
The film is the second big screen release of Kareena Kapoor in 2024 after Crew, and is so far the lowest-earner in the actress’ career. However, according to Balaji Motion Pictures (Ekta Kapoor’s production banner), the film has earned Rs 7.81 crore in four days of its release.
Kareena Kapoor’s film had no direct competition at the box office, with no major releases. However, the re-release of the 2018 folk horror thriller Tumbbad has had a massive impact on the crime thriller. On its fifth day, the film earned 50% more than The Buckingham Murders. With a collection of Rs 1.50 crore on its fifth day, Tumbbad’s total collection now stands at Rs 10.50 crore India nett, just Rs 3 crore behind its original box office collection.
Kareena Kapoor plays the role of a grieving cop Jasmeet Bhamra aka Jass, who is assigned to investigate the case of a missing child. The Buckingham Murders also marks the production debut of the actress.
