Kapil Sharma is returning to Netflix with a brand new season of The Great Indian Kapil Show, the comedian and the streaming platform announced on Wednesday, August 21. Netflix took to social media to make the big announcement with a special video featuring the cast of the show including Archana Puran Singh, Sunil Grover among others.
Taking to Instagram, Netflix announced, “Ab shanivaar hoga “Funnyvaar” ‘cuz Kapil and gang are coming with double fun and hassi iss baar (Now Saturdays will be fun as Kapil and gang are coming with double the fun and laughter) 😍 Season 2 coming soon! Stay tuned.”
Fans are quite excited for the show’s premiere but they’ll have to wait for a month for it to start streaming on Netflix. According to reports, the comedy show’s season two will stream on the OTT platform from September 21.

While fans were happy that the show is returning on OTT, some demanded the return of Sumona Chakravarty and others actors like Ali Asgar and Bharti Singh. One user commented, “Need Sumona And Chandu… unke bina mazaa nhi…,” another person wrote that the show was more fun to watch when it used to be telecast on TV, the wrote, “Return to Sony. Yahan par kuch nhi hoga. Yu were better on #Sonytv.” Yet another person commented, “Oh finally ❤️.”
The Great Indian Kapil Show debuted on Netflix in March this year and ended in June. While the show was widely viewed all over the world, it got mixed reviews by a section of the viewers.
Apart from Kapil Sharma, the show features Archana Puran Singh, Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, and Rajiv Thakur. The season 1 of the show had guests like Ranbir Kapoor, his mother Neetu Kapoor, Riddhia Kapoor, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal, Sania Mirza, Badshah, DIVINE, Diljit Dosanjh, Imtiaz Ali, Parineeti Chopra, and the entire cast of Heeramandi.
